Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Alkoon (“the app”, “we”, “our”) handles your information.

1. Data we collect

Alkoon does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app does not require an account, sign-in, or any form of registration.

2. Location access

Alkoon asks for location permission so it can show you the nearest Alko store, the distance to it, and a compass arrow that points towards it. Your location is processed entirely on your device in real time. It is not recorded, saved, transmitted, uploaded, or shared with any third party. Location is only active while the app is open and a feature that requires it (Navigate, List, or Map) is in use.

3. Compass and motion sensors

On iOS the app asks for motion permission so the on-screen needle can rotate to follow your phone’s heading. Compass readings are used only to draw the needle and are never recorded, saved, transmitted, or shared.

4. Settings stored on your device

Your in-app preferences — currently your language choice and a flag remembering that you granted compass permission — are stored locally on your device. They never leave your device and are not associated with any identifier.

5. Network usage

The map view loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Loading these tiles requires your device to send standard web requests (including IP address) to OpenStreetMap’s servers. We do not control what OpenStreetMap logs; please refer to their privacy policy for details.

The store list shipped with each release is sourced from Alko’s public store-finder endpoint at www.alko.fi. The data is fetched at build time on our development machines and bundled into the app; the running app does not contact alko.fi from your device.

In addition to map tiles, the app loads a small analytics beacon from Cloudflare; see section 6 below. Aside from these two, the app does not contact any backend or advertising network.

6. Analytics

Alkoon uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service. It records anonymous, aggregated usage information such as page views, referrer, and browser/OS family. It does not use cookies, localStorage, fingerprinting, or any cross-site identifiers, and does not collect personal data. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.

7. Third-party services

Other than Cloudflare Web Analytics (section 6) and OpenStreetMap map tiles (section 5), Alkoon does not integrate any third-party SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or tracking technologies.

8. Children’s privacy

Alkoon does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. The aggregated analytics described in section 6 contains no personal data. Alko stores in Finland sell alcoholic beverages and the app is intended for adult use.

9. Your rights

Because Alkoon does not collect or store personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, export, or delete. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored settings.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top of this document will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through an app update.
